Setting up your judging preferences

Before starting to annotation routines, we recommend setting up your judging preferences. These can be accessed on any routine page by clicking the settings cog in the top right-hand corner of the page.

Available preferences

Annotation colour

This is the default annotation drawing colour. You may be directed by your head judge to use a specific colour for all of your annotation drawings, so this should be set in the preferences before you begin. You can always change the colour on an individual drawing via the composer.

Pause or Continue playback when adding an annotation

This option allows you to set whether or not you want the video to pause or continue playing when you press the Add Annotation button.

Pause video: This means the routine will pause and the annotation composer will open at the point you pressed the Add Annotation button for you to fill out the annotation data.

Continue video: The routine will continue playing, but an annotation will be added for the timestamp at which you pressed the Add Annotation button. This is useful for a first watch-through, to add annotations as you see them, before returning to fill out annotation data (drawing, comments, type, visibility settings). We apply a small negative offset (-1000ms) to these annotations' timestamp to account for natural human reaction time.
